112

Scary experience last night! Anton had fallen asleep at his regular time but been tossing and turning a little bit... At 10 he "woke up", a bit confused, half asleep still in a dream but with a terrible sounding cough and very wheezy breath. Thought it was strange that he'd gotten a sore throat so quickly, since he's been unusually cold free for the last couple of days.
It very quickly became clear he couldn't catch his breath properly so I called 112 (emergency no.) and they sent an ambulance. His colour was still good so no need for panic but it was scary enough... Stephen went with A to the hospital.
He called me after about an hour to let me know that Anton apparently has croup.

The thought crossed my mind when we were waiting for the ambulance...had in the back of my mind that "croup-cough" sounds like a barking seal and that's a very good description of the noise Anton was making just trying to breathe. I just thought that croup was something very young children get...that Anton was too "big" for croup - I guess not.

Glad it wasn't anything worse.
Felt terrible sending my little man off in the ambulance! :( He himself thought is was quite exciting to go in the "polisbil" (police car) :) and then that Vaari (my dad) came to drive them home again was also great. :)

Anton slept fine though the rest of the night and had a slight fever this morning. Still sounds a bit hoarse and has more "flu"-like symptoms...tired and feeling a bit sore all over. At least this is something I'm familiar with...last night I wasn't.

Erin's check-up

Last Friday Erin had her scheduled check-up, at 18 months it's time for the MMR and a basic development check. Building with blocks and holding the crayon and being able to point to her nose and ear etc. No probs there! :)
The nurse also asked about how many word she has (I think 8-10 is "normal") and I had to think hard and said well...she says mamma and pappa and Anton...ta-ta and...some animal-sounds as well... So she wrote 8-10 on her piece of paper...
As we were going through all the other stuff I kept remembering more and more words. Of course, Erin says this and that too and oh by the way she says this as well so the nurse laughed and looked at Erin and said,
"I'll just change this to more than 8-10 words since mummy obviously was telling fibs." :P

Our little now Missy is 86,5 cm "tall" and weighs 12,3 kg. That's 2.8 feet and 27.11 lbs (?). :/
Fairly sure that's not the correct way of writing height and weight and will confer with Stephen later to correct it! ;)

Getting the MMR went well too. She was not overly happy about it but when the nurse was done and gave her a biscuit she was soon happy again, I think she was more annoyed about me holding her tight than the actual jag.
We're to expect a fever about 10 days after MMR and possibly some viral spots too...so far so good. :)

Just one more week left of October...were in the world does the time go?
Next weekend Anton turns 3! Feels unreal...has it been three years already...? We're having a small birthday party on the Saturday, my mum and sisters and possibly a friend of mine (or two) will pop by but nothing bigger. Maybe next year we'll have a party for some of his friends but he still feels a bit too young for that...

I've been feeling slightly miserable this week, kind of have a cold but still not and a sore head but not and actual head ache so I'm not really sure how I feel. Am I getting better or worse...??
Tomorrow I'm going out for dinner with some friends. I don't get to see them that often after moving out to here for Gothenburg so I really don't want to get any worse! Been looking forward to this for a while now. If I keep popping my pills and herbal concoctions I might just be able to push me worsening 'til next week... ;)

Kiddies are asleep and Stephen is in bed too...migraine!
I need to get something to eat and get ready for possible play-date with Tara later!
Bye for now!

So...

Stephens "thing" that knocked him out wasn't "just" tonsillitis but an abscess. :/ He got so bad that on Sunday dad had to come and drive him to the hospital so he could get the antibiotics (and pain killers) he needed. Then on Monday after dinner he got chest pains (!) and was again given a lift to the A&E (thanks dad!) and thankfully it wasn't anything "worse" than gastritis. *phew*
Apparently the antibiotics get rid of all bacteria, even the good ones in your tummy so Stephen's reacted by giving him trouble! :/ He was given more pills to pop but is now starting to feel better...
Heavens forbid though that he would call in sick and just rest for a bit! No, not him - never, but especially not when starting on a new project here in Borås...which I sort of understand but...still...I'm checking up on him during the days to make sure he's taking it easy, at least as easy as he can so hopefully he'll be clear from bugs soon.
Then again, like he said, "Do you really think I'd be taking it easy at home will all the stuff I'm wanting to get done here?" Probably not! ;P

Any hoot, (new favourite expression!) Anton is finishing off his antibiotics at the weekend, Erin never got any worse with her sniffles and I'm still well so hopefully we'll have a small break before the next loads of germs attack! :P

School is also going well, I write with a bit of hesitance - what if I jinx it?!
I did very well on my History exam (must have told you already!?) and well on my Maths "assignment". The exam we had in Natural Science also went surprisingly well, got the highest grade - mvg! :D That's in a subject I'm convinced of is one of my weakest...? :)

Plans for the weekend? Well, it'd be nice if we could get some shopping done. I think Anton needs new shoes, they both definitely need new winter ones - even if it isn't that cold yet. Better spread the cost out a bit since they also need kitted out for the coming of winter wonderland which isn't the cheapest clothes to get. I need winter boots and a new warm coat too so starting now seems sensible. :)
Mum's (and Anton's) birthday is around the corner and we've sort of got her gift ready but need to make sure it's still in the store (and buy it!) or order a new one if they're out.
Probably, more than likely, we'll do something completely different from plans but it'll be good anyways! :)
LOVE having the weekend to look forward to...when I was just at home all the days just melted into each other and even if the weekend meant Stephen being home it didn't feel as "special" of a Family Time as it does when I've been doing "my thing" during the week too...

Time to wake little ones from their nap!

Pictures!

Still in Sweden but on our way. Stopped for a quick meal before heading to the airport.

Me! :P Waiting for train at Prestwick.

Mum and little sis on the train.

Stephen had sent me flowers to welcome me "home". xxx

Going out!

View from our window. Perfect location, at the top of the Mound.

This one was for Stephen! :) Traffic cones on top of statues are more common than you would think...almost so that you're surprised when one is missing their "hat". :)

Big sis and little sis with their shopping. Note huge Adidas sports bag, it was full!

Edinburgh Castle

Waiting, in front of Thomas Guthrie, for contact with families back home.

Being silly in front of webcam :P Guys in the background joined in!

Taking pics of Anna's new shoes! :)

Edinburgh!

So, last weekend we (mum, both sisters and me) were in Edinburgh for a quick shopping weekend. It was brilliant! It's been about three years since the last time and it still feels like coming home.
We had lots of good laughs and got a great deal of shopping done. Both sisters bought shoes like mad women, 5 and 6 pairs each!? :) I "only" got two pairs... :( The options in both size and fit are SO much better in Britain that I'm not surprised that they went "mad" when they finally had shoes to choose from! :) The notion that big (tall) girls have big feet seems to have been missed by the Swedish "shoe people"...
Any hoot...Good time, good, shopping, great flat (top of the Mound)!! Even tough it was only one room/kitchenette + bathroom w. shower, the four of us had no problems fitting in ourselves or all our shopping.
Only sad thing was that I didn't have time to meet up with any of my old "crew" *lol* or my "family" in Portobello. My dearest Nyki is bringing her hubby over in November so I'll see her before too long but I'm really sorry I missed the kids and B&G...hope our paths cross again in the near future! :)

The trip to/from Edinburgh via Prestwick/Glasgow also went very smoothly, a lot thanks to Stephens detailed planning for the journey. *blow kiss*
Got a very nice surprise when getting of the plane, Stephen came with the kiddies to pick me up! :D Glad I didn't have to take the train back home. :) And I got a lovely bunch of flowers to welcome me home! :)
I hadn't been away at all from Erin previously and very rarely ever been away from Anton or Stephen either, so I'd missed them a bit and was thrilled to see them there. Erin was already in her Mommo's (mums) arms and didn't seem "scarred" from me leaving her. :)

This week as just swooshed by! Loads to do in school at the moment and no time to do it in. Anton had a fever on Wednesday and was sent home from dagis, I stayed home on Thursday and he got antibiotics on Friday since he's got tonsillitis. Stephen has knocked out by (probably) the same thing today, had barely left the bed all day, and Erin has major sniffles but no "proper" fever and I'm probably just too busy with everyone/everything else to find the time to be unwell... :) Maybe next weekend? :)

I've managed to get some studying done tonight after putting kiddies to bed but it feels a little bit like the top of the ice berg so we'll see how I get on tomorrow and on my exam om Monday! :/

Now I'm going to bed! :)
Nightnight!
