Passed?!

I think I might have possibly, most likely, almost certainly, passed my first university exam! :D :D :D

We got to process the exam in our study groups after we'd done it. It felt good, since what we agreed on being the correct answers were the once I had put down as that during the examination. When we came home rumour spread like a wildfire that the key to the exam had been published on the university intranet. :) And...as far as I can gather I should have passed the exam...and with a good margin as well! ;) :D We will not know for sure though 'til they've been properly checked and passed... but I'm feeling confident! :O :)

That confidence will only last for about another 24 hours before I have to start getting my head around our next Friday's exam, for which I've not even opened the books for yet!?! :O But...I'll deal with that fact on Monday! :)

Ginger!

Despite my stress about Friday's exam I started my week with a three hour (!?) visit to the hairdresser's. I didn't get my hair just as I wanted it since my black colour was a bit harder to shift than I had thought. It's still kind of dark but...we're on the right path to getting it just right.

Not a great photo, my hair's not that red - more red:ish brown with a hint of copper, but... You can see a change. :)

Cabin coma

Cabin coma - a new expression for the state which one ends up in when visiting my aunt's house in the woods. ;) My (n.b. totally unscientific!) theory is that it is the lack of electric gadgets and these items constant hmmmmm:ing noise that causes this comatose state of being.

The unexperienced person could easily sleep late in the morning, take a mid-day nap for a few hours, possibly adding another nap after dinner and then head to bed again early...! :) It's not to be mistaken for signs of boredom or depression but rather a state of total relaxation! :)

'Cabin coma' generally stays with short term visitors over the duration of their visit but for those who stay for a longer period this 'coma' normally passes after a 5-10 days. 'Cabin coma' does not seem to have any effect whatsoever on children.

For the more experienced in this low electrical environment the symptoms are quite the opposite to that of cabin coma. There is a more or less constant activity, gardening, chopping wood, carrying/moving/building/etc., long walks in the woods, picking berries and exploring going on. All still very low stress and satisfying and naps after dinner are not uncommon. :) :)

Cabin coma is just what hit me this weekend when we were in Dalsland at M and S's cabin. My cousin Kati and her family were also there and we were all (except kiddies!) struck by this. ;)Absolutely fab! Just what I needed...my head feels majorly mushy trying to prepare for Friday's exam, one of two which I have to pass to pass my first course at Uni. It's truly doing my head in but a break was, and is needed. I got one and I'm right now taking one before I grab some lunch and press on with sociocultural perspective (google translation!) on learning + Dewey, Vygotsky, Montessori and all the other's we're supposed to grasp by Friday...!! :P

First snow!

The first snow has arrived...!? It has even lasted over night... :) Most likely it'll melt away before lunch but the surprising weather is starting to not be so surprising anymore. I sort of know to expect the unexpected when it comes to the weather....and that is worrying!

If it doesn't feel right to have snow this early...can it be right...?

Winter tyres aren't on yet so Stephen will have to drive VERY carefully when he goes to get them changed. I have no proper boots for the winter so my toes will be cold and most likely wet before I even get to the bus stop!

But, off I go, study, study, study...! :)

Time for a new 'do?

...or colour actually. :) Not much can be done to the 'do at present, although I'm considering trying to let grow longer again, never seem to have the patience to grow it long. ;)

I've loved the black, still do, but it feels a bit too cold in this cold season and I'm feeling a need for some warmth. Red's always been my thing but it's usually been a deep, quite dark, auburn shade and occasionally a bit "crazier" like a bright ruby red. Neither colour is what I'm after this time around.

I'm thinking about going for a shade I've never tired before (and I've done most colours available!) - a warm copper red. It has that gorgeous autumn:y feel to it that might pull me through the bleak winter days ahead. What do you think??

Jewel

My beautiful soul sister Née shared a video on facebook a while back - Jewel's "Satisfied".

I LOOOOVE it (made me cry!) .
Satisfied lyrics;
If you love somebody
You better let it out
Don't hold it back
While you're trying to figure it out
Don't be timid
Don't be afraid to hurt
Run toward the flame
Run toward the fire
Hold on for all your worth
Cause the only real pain a heart can ever know
Is the sorrow of regret
When you don't let your feelings show

So did you say it
Did you mean it
Did you lay it on the line
Did you make it count
Did you look 'em in the eye
Did they feel it
Did you say it in time
Did you say it out loud
'cause if you did hun
Then you lived some
That feeling inside
That's called satisfied

Busy people walking by
Can't help but worry some
With so many things to do
So little love gets done
Empty hearts everywhere
Drowning but dying of thirst
If you want love
It's not that tough
Start by giving it first
It's so easy to give
Baby can't you see
Just close your eyes open your heart
And do what comes naturally

Well did you say it
Did you mean it
Did you lay it on the line
Did you make it count
Did you look 'em in the eye
Did they feel it
Did you say it in time
Did you say it out loud
'cause if you did hun
Then you lived some
That feeling inside
That's called satisfied

Horses are built to run
The sun is meant to shine above
Flowers are made to bloom
And then there's us
We were born to love

I also found "Stronger Woman" which made me smile. The line "from now on I'm going to be the kind of woman I'd want my daughter to be" gave me goose-bumps!!

So, I thought I'd post the YouTube links here and perhaps make you cry and smile too... :)

Stronger Woman lyrics;
I guess you could say I'm one of those girls
That's always been with one of those guys
You know the type
Like right now, he sleeps while I write

But it's better than crying
I'm worn out from trying
From loving a man who always makes it clear
I'm not welcome here
Just when he's hungry or frisky
or needs something cleaned
And you know what I mean

But not tonight
'Cause come the morning light, oh
I'm gonna love myself more than anyone else
Believe in me, even if someone can't see
The stronger woman in me

I'm going to be my own best friend
Stick with me till the end
Won't lose myself again, never, no,
'Cause there's a stronger woman,
A stronger woman in me

Light bulbs buzz,
I get up
And head to my drawer
I wish there was more
I could say
Another fairytale fades to gray
I've lived on hope
Just like a child
Walking that mile
Faking that smile
All the while
Wishing my heart had wings

Well from now on I'm going to be
The kind of woman I'd want my daughter to be, oh

I'm gonna love myself more than anyone else
Believe in me, even if someone can't see
A stronger woman in me
I'm gonna be my own best friend
Stick with me till the end
I won't lose myself again, never, no
'Cause there's a stronger woman,
A stronger woman

This is me, packing up my bags
And this is me, headed for the door
And this is me, the best you ever had
I'm going to love myself
More than anyone else
Believe in me even if someone cannot see
There's a stronger woman in me
I'm going to be my own best friend
Stay with me till the end
Won't lose myself again, never, no
'Cause there's a stronger woman
A stronger woman
There's a stronger woman,
A stronger woman in me,
Yeah...

R.I.P. Mr. 'Puter

It was not a surprise, it was well passed its best-before-date, it was what could be expected of an ancient 'puter but still... we're sad to see it gone. Done. Dead.

It had not been cooperating for a good while and despite brother-in-laws repeated attempts to prolong its life it is now no more.

R.I.P. Mr. (it was definitely a Mr! ;)) 'Puter.
Thank you for you loooong and faithful service to our household.

Talking about the weather

Not been much to talk about so that's why I've been a bit quiet.
The beautiful autumn days have given us just as many freezing mornings. This morning and yesterday it was -3C when I left kiddies to nursery! *brrr!*

It's been cloudier today so it'll probably not be as cold tomorrow.

Work placement this week as been OK too. It's just a bit difficult to know what to do when we don't know what to do... :] Teacher's good, kids are great (i.e. normal ;) ) but...yeah...I don't know. I just feel like such a novice, which I guess is sort of alright since I am a novice...! ;P

Miss studying! *lol!* Miss my study group. Miss not having to get up so early every morning.

I miss my mum! :) She's been sick with pneumonia, really sick actually... We thought she might even have gotten myocarditis but thankfully she's "just" gotten a very persistent case of pneumonia... We've not seen her for aaages and we all miss her, it's rarely that more than a week passes between us meeting up and now it's been about 3 weeks!

*sigh*
Dinner time - then early-to-bed-night...!
No! Can't! Grey's tonight!! ;P

Autumn's here!

Welcome...

We've already had a few frosty mornings and some rainy days but today I truly felt like autumn was here... I don't think it really had that much to do with the weather, though today's been overcast, grey and with a constant, occasionally quite nippy, breeze blowing. It's just that "it" is at that perfect point when the leaves have turned colour and are all just about to fall but still hanging on. When nature is at, in my opinion, its most beautiful... Rusty, earthy tones all over... ♥
I love it! :)

Despite today's overcast greyness we've mostly had sunshine this last week and next week has promises of the same...! Sunny autumn days make me all giddy!! :D I find myself smiling for no apparent reason...! :o)
I don't get "spring feelings", I get "autumn feelings"! ;)

In a few weeks the leaves will have fallen and soon been swept away or turned into brown-grey mush in the rain, rain, rain and that not-so-charming in-between autumn/winter-season will have set in. It'll be dark, cold, bare and bleak...'til the snow falls and/or ;) the Christmas lights warm our hearts again. :)

My work placement is alright... It has given me lots to think about... :) yeah... I'll write a summery of the placements when we're done. Two more days left at the nursery and then next week at a primary school. :)

Now, time to get kiddies to bed 'cause tonight it's the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy! :) :) :)

In My Handbag?

Sort of what my bag looks like. Grey, slouchy, huge hobo bag (yes this is more of a tote I know!) with plenty of room. :)

I was tagged for this challenge by my cousin Kati. The challenge is "What's in your handbag?" and here's what's in mine:
Tissues
Painkillers, 2 kinds
Plasters
Lip gloss
Lip balm
Hand cream
Keys
Eraser
Pen case
Pads
(in very handy little box from Libresse. :))
Water bottle
A toothbrush!? *lol*
Access card to Uni.
My calender
My purse
(it's new so only full of necessary things like money and ATM card etc. ;))
2 notepads (one big, one small)
3 books (course literature)
3 folders
My passport
(my id-card has expired so passport it the only valid id I carry)
Bus pass
Timetable between Gothenburg-Borås
(from this summer)

I tag YOU! However random or regular of a visitor you are! :D Post in the comments when you've taken the challenge and I'll check in on you to see what's in your bag. :)

Sneak peek

...of our "new" bedroom! :)
Anytime I've remembered (had time) to take a photo of the room it's either late at night (kiddies are asleep+crap photo quality with my mobile phone camera) or the early morning when Stephen's still asleep "messing up" the room! *lol!* He's actually dozing away just out of shot in this photo... ;)

I'm really happy how the curtains turned out. I chose to layer them, a sheer curtain underneath the patterned one. :) Even layered it's sheer enough to let lots of light through. :) I'm also happy we didn't go for the boring/ugly blackout blinds but the roll up "bamboo"-blinds instead.

It is a bit tight for space with our bed, kiddies bunk bed and monster-size computer table but... *breathe!* it's just for a short *fingers crossed* while. :) ...and at least the rooms purdypink! ;)

Hoping to do an all-over "after" session of the room this weekend. :)
