Fever...

Last night it was Anton's turn to get a fever...he was tossing and turning for ages, first in his bed then ours and I was up with him at least 3 times because he said he felt like he needed to be sick. No sick though, but a fever and not much sleep...SO tired!
Erin seems in better spirits, both have a slight cough which doesn't yet sound worrying. :)

Today my babysis turns 26! :D Wierd that she's my age...!? She'll be older than me in a few years! ;) She's invited family over to ours for birthday celebrations (cake and coffee) tomorrow..."Easier" for all to come to ours, and it's good too because it give me a good enough incentive to tidy this place up properly! *lol*

S is wanting to pull some cables and perfers to have to power off when he does ;) so I better go!

Under construction!

I got a little bit depressed with the cold winter feel of the blog... YES, I know I did it to begin with but anyway...! So I started looking for slightly warmer backgrounds (not that difficult since I had white to begin with!) and have now started changing the look a little...I think I like this background but I don't know... It seems to be difficult to find a "normal" look...it's either a super cheesy scrapbook floral-look or cold hard and uninspiring...

Please be patient and let me know what you think! :)

Erin's still got a fever, up to 40.1 C this morning...! :( She's still been in reasonably good spirits, don't know how kids manage it...I would be in such a BAD state with fever that high.
I know this from before but still called the doctor to be sure-sure...as long as she's "with it" and eating and drinking well she's fine. If her general condition is good we need not worry, children can have high temperatures for just a simple cold... Still not nice as a mommy to have a miserable two year old at home (and her high energy brother), my poor poor baby! :/

American Brunch etc.

On Sunday I met up with a group of gal-pals I made when I was pregnant with Anton. We all had our babies about the same time, Oct./Nov. 2005. We're about 8-10 girls who met through a forum online and got together and have stayed together for almost 4 years now! :) We meet up when we can and we always have a good time.
5 of the girls in the group are pregnant again (one for the 3rd time!) and all are due about the same time, in April/May. We were 6 (4 baby-bellies) meeting up this time and we opted for an earlier get-together and chose to go to the American Brunch at Hotel Heden Liseberg.

From the website: "Enjoy real American food like pancakes with maple syrup, hamburgers, Caesar salad, bagels with cream cheese, brownies, blueberry muffins, cheesecake or pecan pie. Sound tempting? Pay us a visit at Hotell Liseberg Heden and enjoy our American Brunch."

I thought the choice of things was good but the size of the food could have been slightly bigger...even for a buffet. I mean...a tiny bit of brownie is not as nice as a small piece :) and why oh why split the donuts into 8 bits when you can half or quarter it?? The BLT-sandwiches were also tiny but tasty so I should perhaps not complain. The price was good for what all we got but as always...the company is what did it for me. We always have such a GOOD time together...! :D

In school it's been drama, drama with today be "the Day of Performance" :) and OF COURSE Erin woke up with a fever during the night and this morning Anton was saying he wasn't feeling good. What to do?! I'm the one reading the "play" and bringing the "background music" with me, without me they'd be in quite a pickle to say the least! I waited 'til the last minute and made the choice to take the kids with me, rather than not going at all. They couldn't go to dagis with a fever but were still "well" enough to come with me...It worked out well, my classmates Ooooh:d and Aaaah:d over my "beautiful children" :D and they were well behaved too so I felt proud and glad I didn't have to abandon my group. :)

Already been back home for about an hour now (I left as soon as our play was done) and they're down for their nap now...hopefully waking up feeling better. :)

Wallpaper for the stairwell...?

OK, so I found some examples of what I'd like in the stairwell. I could imagine being even more bold in my colour choices but I think the cool blue tones would be brilliant in that quite cramped "little" space.

Mommo is the best!

Yesterday we had our second "Friday night Family Fun" (*lol* so need to figure out a better way of wording it!) and we had a special guest, my mum, Mommo. :) Kids were thrilled and S and I were glad too since she'd promised to let us get out of the house to do some stuff on our own today. :D We watched Bee Movie, which was alright. Erin got too tired to watch it all the way through and Anton fell asleep moments after the end. Better treat selection this time too... ;)

After the movie we just sat and talked 'til about midnight.

After breakie S and I left kiddies with Mommo and started with running one of her errands in Kinna. :) Then we went in to Borås and popped into a shop to look at flooring, in particular a carpet for the kids room. S noticed that the prices were a lot higher than in Gothenburg so we'll go there instead and decide the what and whens. We also talked about flooring for the back hallway and I tried my very best to convince him that it'd be SO NICE with a big-patterned wallpaper in our stairwell, something that "surprises" you when opening the door from the hallway (which will be light grey and white) to go downstairs or walking upstairs from the playroom (-to-be, current plan - muted bluey-grey walls and lightish wooden floors)...but NO! :/ He's not at all as impressed by the huge selection of wallpaper that is out there! :)
Still time to wear him down though! ;P
Was going to find some examples of the wallpaper I liked but didn't make a mental note of names or brands etc. will post later if I find something similar.

We finished of our kids-free-time with a lovely lunch for two. :)

On our way back to the car we passed a H&M and I couldn't resist going in to have a little look, they often have a good selection of fun tops for kiddies and Erin got a cutecutecute top with My Little Pony on it *lol* and, even though he's not a favourite of mine, Anton got a Sponge Bob t-shirt. Both were very happy over their little pressies! :)

We arrived home to kiddies playing outside in the snow with Mommo. :)
The BEST Mommo there is! xxx

Tomorrow I'm meeting some friends I made whilst pregnant with Anton, it's been too long since we last met up. Looking forward to all the pregnant bellies! There's a bunch of spring babies on the way! :) We're going for an American brunch...whatever that is...in Gothenburg. I'll let you know what I thought of it! ;)

Progress...

When Stephen is on a roll he gets things done! :) We've now got two windows in the kids bedroom! :D I wasn't initially sure that there was a need for another one in the small room that is the kiddies room-to-be but we decided to go for it and wow what a difference! :) SO much more natural light that comes in now...it's going to be sooo great when it's done!! :D
Anton's itching to get to be downstairs plastering with Stephen. ;)

Back to school as well after the week "off" (with school assignments) and now were doing drama!?! If showing off my art skills isn't my "thing" then doing drama is even less so... We're dramatizing the "Tale of the little little woman" by Elsa Beskow (just happens to be one of my favourite stories that I "read" when I was a little little girl). Very very very simple, little story which can't be turned into anything too difficult to act out... still not looking forward to it though! ;P

Better go! New season of Grey's Anatomy's starting!

As requested...

I've gotten requests to show pics of the house. :)
I hadn't managed to find any good pics of the house on our computer - especially since we'd cleared the front of all the shrubs and odd plants. So this morning when the sun was shining again :) I thought this would probably be the best time to take some pics...! Before the snow melts away and it becomes even more obvious what all we still need to do! ;)
Out into the cold I went *poor me!* ;) and I got a few alright pics...

Here's our house. :)

Pics from the inside will be posted, when (if ever!) we get tidied and sort of organised... ;)

edited to add: Our house seen from above, thought it could be good to see, whilst still owned by previous owners (i.e. not our garden furniture, car or caravan at the front of garage). The property runs diagonally on the pic, border to neighbours on right is easier to see than the one to neighbours on left.

Cold, cold, cold...

and sun, sun, sun...which is sooo nice but I'm SO longing for spring! When any coat is warm enough and it doesn't take a good 15 minutes to get the kids dressed to go, just shoes and coat and out the door...
Kiddies love the snow though... :) Anton got to buy a carrot for the snowman's nose the other day and he was so thrilled building it and then getting to stick the nose on him! :D With a big smile on his face and bright red cheeks from the cold... :D SO cute!! Erin did her best to help out too of course and loved having a snow fight with Stephen! :) "Daddy snow bum-bum!" she said wanting S to throw more snow on her.

We had our first (and last?) "fredagsmys" (=what could it translate to in English, "Friday fun"?) - family time with "Shrek 2", some crisps and juice all enjoyed in our living room, normally a no-food-area (for kids! ;)) We all enjoyed it and I hope we can make it a lasting "feature"...might need a bit more planning as Erin prefered water to juice and probably would have been happier with fruit snacks rather than potatoe crisps. :) Which shows just how easily one can give kids bad habits unintentionally...of course we should have gone with fruit and veg snacks rather than the treats us adults like! Hopefully we'll find a good routine to it all... :)

S and I also have decided to cut down our "I'm just gonna..."-time on the computer and be better at just being together as a whole family...sound so obvious but we both tend to be pulled away to other projects and things and I had hoped to have a computer free day today but... nope...it's a hard habit to break! :/ But to "my defence" (?!) S has been downstairs most of the afternoon putting in a bigger window in the soon-to-be kids room! ;) Ehm...but it doesn't really excuse my behaviour does it...? *blushes*

Shoot! I just remembered I forgot to tell S that his dad called about a problem with their computer...and I better get started with dinner too... and I will try my very hardest to not be "lured" back online today...this weekend...? :)

Happy Valentines Day! Hope you've had a nice one!

Almost done...!

Got started on my "music assignment" late last night and I've picked a song AND finished (maybe!) my "art" too! :) Not pretty but I think I need to just chill out, it's not meant to be serious Art!! :D
I still have a some writing to do and tying up the loose ends on all of the weeks assignments so kiddies will be going to dagis tomorrow too, but just a half day! Really, really hoped that I'd be done but I'll not get anything, or only very little done if I have them at home... + they do love dagis and playing with their friends so it's really only me who "suffers". Much more fun for them to have fun with friends than being home with a stressed mommy, the whole point of having them home was so that we'd be able to have some fun together and I know I'll not be able to properly chill until it's all done.

Uninspired!

So uninspired today! :( Been trying my best to get motivated but it's not happening! Thought I'd blog a bit and then see if I can get myself going again.

Forgot to write more about Sundays "adventures"! :) After our "interesting" start of the day I left S to deal with the kids while I snoozed for another hour or so. Mum called after breakfast to let us know she's be coming over so that S and I could go for my first "proper" driving lesson! :D
Before she arrived I also managed to sort out my canary coloured hair for a much better ash-blonde shade. :)

"Driving" was so much fun! :) I "learnt" (got to try) to find the biting point (?) of the clutch and how to stop (brake) the car without it dying. I was going round and round on this empty parking lot and I even got out of 1st gear! :D Good fun! I almost wanted to drive the 2 km home but chickened out in the end and I'm glad I did...I'd be too nervous.

Hope to be able to get out with dad too soon, perhaps this weekend even...

Monday we did the "sculpture tour" which was good. SO glad we passed by my "favourite" because the other ones weren't overly inspiring. Having to choose one of the sculptures on the tour to analyze my choice was a given! :)
<- - - - "Bodhi" by Fredrik Wretman is huge and quite thought-provoking "sitting" in the river that runs through town. That assignment was done yesterday without too much strain.

Today I'm just not getting started! :/ I got going a little bit on my artist comparison/analysis thing yesterday but... *sigh!* feel sooo blah just.
My artsy-crafty music assignment I think I've just over-analysed to pieces and just don't know where to start!
You try picking 1 good song and then do something arts&craftsy to that song. Aargh! I can't even pick just the song...I've bought some different coloured paper to do some "kindergarten-inspired" artwork but so I'm NOT inspired!

I was hoping to only have the kiddies a short day at dagis tomorrow and then off on Friday but if I don't get going that'll not happen!
So...I should probably get going rather then sitting here complaining about it, shouldn't I...?

A drunk at the door!

Anton was the early bird this morning, 5.30 as per usual. Just after getting his nappy off the doorbell rang and was followed by a knock!?! What!? At this time of the morning!?
I get my dressing gown on and open the door to a man in his 30s reeking of alcohol.
"Ehm, could I possibly have a loan of your phone so I can get a lift home...? I've been wandering about for 3 hours in the cold."
:/ ?
"Of course!"
I hand him the phone and go in to tell Stephen that we can't leave him to wait outside in the cold. We let him in and put on some coffee to warm (and sober) him up. He's very embarrassed and very very intoxicated and his lift arrives about half an hour later. He couldn't stop talking or thanking us for being such a decent "true Swedish" family! ;)
Apparently he's married with three children and was thrown out of this party he'd gone to in the neighbourhood. What a horrible thing to do, even if he probably deserved to be put out from the party - you make sure that a person in that state has a way to get home again...! Surely?!

What a way to start the day!

Chill out weekend?

Nah! What's the fun in that? ;)
Stephen had trouble sleeping last night and got up again around midnight to try and tire himself out with late-night-tv which meant in turn that I didn't sleep too well either, all alone in our big bed. Got some company a little bit later by Erin who'd lost her doodie and she filled the bed up enough for me to fall asleep 'til about 3 when something woke me again (Anton?) and I saw that S was asleep on the sofa. I let him sleep there, he's comfortable anywhere and didn't want to be responsible for waking him up if he's have trouble falling back asleep yet again! :)

I don't have to tell you that the early morning wake up at 5.30 felt rough, to say the least. For a moment I thought the time was 6.30 and felt pleased that E had slept so long! *lol*
*yawn!*

They're such early birds!
Erin especially! - - - ->
Once she's awake she's UP! Anton can at least stay in bed for a moment or two and have a cuddle so that I don't have to wake up immediately. ;)

Anton slept for another while longer while I did my best to persuade Erin to come back to bed, she was having none of it! ;) Soon enough he was up too wanting "bottle" (=välling, translated to 'gruel'? did not look v. nice on wikipedia).

Morning went past fairly fast...breakfast and some tv. After kids had napped and lunched E emptied all her clothes onto the floor for the gazillionth time! *argh!* I decided that it was time to leave the whole concept of a 'changing table' behind us (most nappies are changed standing nowadays) and move the dresser into the hallway which has gates so missE won't get to the drawers any more!
Btw, I have heard of child locks! ;) The drawers did have had them on but they've broken and not been replaced yet and I cannot be bothered anyways since they're big enough now to know NOT to poke in them...

S was fixing away in our basement, trying to get kiddes room-to-be in order. It'd be so nice to move downstairs for summer. Our room is done but kid's need a new (bigger) window put in and there are pipes to build in and plastering and painting to be done and a carpet put down too...and probably tons of other stuff too. :) He's gotten a great deal done already if we compare it to what it used to be like, with that humongous oil pan in there! Like day and night already and it'll be brilliant when it's done! :D
So he finished off what he was doing and we started tidying away all the nappies and wet-wipes and finding new homes for lamps and things that had been living on top of the changing table, we also needed to do some rearranging in the hallway to fit the "new" dresser in and while we were at it we rearranged the beds in our bedroom too! :D
So, not much of a chill out day today...but good! :)

S is on a roll with whatever he's up to downstairs so he's there and I'm here and I'm going to put the kettle on for a cup of tea before bed.

Sweet dreams!

A week full of arts and crafts!

Well, almost...we're starting our course in 'aesthetic activity' (straight translation from Swedish, sorry!) and on Monday we're doing a sculpture tour in town. Then we're to pick one that has given us some kind of emotion, love or hate, and analyse it. We're also to do some kind of art-work (and further analysis) to a song (piece of music) we like and finally do a comparison of two artists (i.e. Monet and Carl Larsson)... A very artsy week ahead! :) It'll be interesting, I love art and all but not used to creating or critiquing it myself! :/
We're doing all this fun whilst the teachers have a week off! :P As adult students we're not entitled to any 'mid term' breaks (there are two this term 'sportlov' next week and later Easter).

Glad to have to communication course over and done with! Now afterwards I really feel I've learnt something valuable, both for me as a person (and a mom) and for my future jobs - whether teaching or not. :) But it's been horrendous from start to finish, not planning, no order, no proper information, not acceptable!
Any hoot, over and done! *phew!* :)

Hoping for a nice and quite weekend and a not too sensitive scalp when I re-bleach my hair on Sunday. Don't know what happened but when I did my hair yesterday it didn't turn out right, slightly canary coloured now and I'm not pleased! :/ Not waiting the recommended 2 weeks before I get this sorted out! *lol*

Time to spend some quality time with my worn out husband and mini-monkey kiddies! ;)
All my best,

February already?!

"Det ordnar sig!" (it'll be ok!) and "where has the time gone?!" are probably the two most common thoughts in my head and today I find myself again thinking...where has the time gone? It's FEBRUARY, already?!? AND I realise this at the end of the 4th day of the month? *lol*

I've just not had time to stop and think... Not that I've been overly busy or anything, just that life doesn't stop to let me catch on that the days go...

Anton didn't get any worse last week so he was back to dagis on Wednesday then Thursday and Friday came and went...Friday afternoon we decided at a bit of a spur-of-the-moment to go up to the cabin after all (had earlier in the week decided against going) and we stayed there 'til Sunday when I had to be in Gothenburg for a me&i-party. Nice to see a spring collection, even if it the collection wasn't as good as it used to be. Didn't buy anything this time, going to another "party" next month so I gave myself some time to think about it. :)

This week our regular course teacher is back from sick leave, what a relief! She seems to be much more of my kind of teacher, with order and plans and a no-nonsense attitude! YES!
Still have to get this course in communication finished off before we get the joy *fingers crossed* of her classes! :)

Now I need to put the kids in bed!

25 Things About Me

Got tagged by a friend on facebook and thought I'd share it here too... for all of you who have not yet been sucked in by facebook! ;)

It was quite interesting filling in 25 random things about myself...didn't think I'd get to the end but I did! :) So here's 25 things about me.

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

1. I consider myself a dog-person but have ended up with two cats and no dogs.
2. I'm not sure I have 25 (23?) even slightly interestning things to share...
3. I love the smell of little babies.
4. I used to have the patience of an angel, not many things would get me worked up. That's until I had children...they have a funny way of pushing all my buttons at once. It takes a big effort to keep my cool nowadays.
5. I dreamt of a spring wedding with soft sunshine, newly sprung buds on the trees and flowers at my feet. I got bare nature and pouring rain but it was still the most beautiful day! :)
6. I hope for and work towards becoming a teacher. I think I'd be a good one, just hope I have the time and money to see it thought 'til the end...
7. When I was little I wanted to grow up to be a minister and the lives of nuns really fascinated me.
8. I'd love to learn how to speak arabic.
9. Stephen promised me a puppy if he still had a mark left on his arm after a stupid cheese-cutting accident 5 years ago. This year he's to fulfull that promise (he was left with a "huge" scar!) but I think I might want another baby "instead" (in a couple of years!)...we can get a dog when the kids have moved out...? :)
10. Giving birth to Erin was one of the coolest things I've done in my life. I was so THERE! Anton's was the opposite, scary and confusing and mostly and out-of-body experience.
11. I love history...there's just something about things old that makes me want to know more. :) Who? What? Where? Why??
12. My feet are huge, I have great difficulties finding "ladies" shoes in Sweden. I mainly have to have unisex (man!) sneakers (summer) of boots (winter).
13. I'm terrible at tidying, I hate doing it but love it after I'm done...why is it such a chore??
14. I'd love to have a "library" at home...a room filled with books, floor to ceiling with all my favourites.
15. I don't have a driving license, but I'm working on it... :) Is one of those things you REALLY should have before turing 30...? ;)
16. Autumn is my favourite time of year. The colours, the smell, the air is cool but not cold - hats and scarfs are for fun rather than a must. :)
17. Talking about hats. I "miss" us not using hats anymore...why did we stop? There's something charming with old people with proper hats. Love the cloche hats of the 1920's and 30's! (see pic below)
18. For some reason "people" seem to assume that I know what I'm doing and that when I state my opinion on something that I'm dead set on it and expect everyone to agree... I really don't know why, most of the time I don't have a clue what I'm doing and I'm always willing to have a good discussion about anything and everything. Just because I don't like polka dots doesn't mean that you can't...
19. I should be working on a school assignment right now...
20. I like (need!) order, organisation and good plans of what comes next to feel inspired and "safe" when I study. I hate not feeling prepared and not knowing what is expected of me or my work...
21. I love crispy clean bedlinen, I sleep like a baby! It's just a shame that feeling only last for a day or so...
22. Without my extended family I'd be lost. My sisters, parents, aunts and uncles are there for me if/when I need them and I feel truly blessed to have such a large group of people to draw strenght from.
23. If I didn't have such a large and supportive family here at home, Stephen and I would probably live somewhere in Scotland...near Edinburgh.
24. I dream of having a summer place in Scotland or possibly Ireland.
25. I love swimming! Pools are ok, but prefer to swim in a lake. Not in the ocean, really don't like that salt water smell on my skin.
