Cabin coma

Cabin coma - a new expression for the state which one ends up in when visiting my aunt's house in the woods. ;) My (n.b. totally unscientific!) theory is that it is the lack of electric gadgets and these items constant hmmmmm:ing noise that causes this comatose state of being.

The unexperienced person could easily sleep late in the morning, take a mid-day nap for a few hours, possibly adding another nap after dinner and then head to bed again early...! :) It's not to be mistaken for signs of boredom or depression but rather a state of total relaxation! :)

'Cabin coma' generally stays with short term visitors over the duration of their visit but for those who stay for a longer period this 'coma' normally passes after a 5-10 days. 'Cabin coma' does not seem to have any effect whatsoever on children.

For the more experienced in this low electrical environment the symptoms are quite the opposite to that of cabin coma. There is a more or less constant activity, gardening, chopping wood, carrying/moving/building/etc., long walks in the woods, picking berries and exploring going on. All still very low stress and satisfying and naps after dinner are not uncommon. :) :)

Cabin coma is just what hit me this weekend when we were in Dalsland at M and S's cabin. My cousin Kati and her family were also there and we were all (except kiddies!) struck by this. ;)Absolutely fab! Just what I needed...my head feels majorly mushy trying to prepare for Friday's exam, one of two which I have to pass to pass my first course at Uni. It's truly doing my head in but a break was, and is needed. I got one and I'm right now taking one before I grab some lunch and press on with sociocultural perspective (google translation!) on learning + Dewey, Vygotsky, Montessori and all the other's we're supposed to grasp by Friday...!! :P
